How can I prevent catching ringworm from my cat?

I had my cat neutered a week ago today, and I just noticed a large patch of ringworm on his belly today (the vet is getting an angry phone call first thing in the morning). What can I do in the mean time to keep myself and my other cat from catching it? My boyfriend is coming for the night tomorrow night as well. What can I do to keep the fungus away from him? I already bathe, change the sheets, and vacuum. Do I need to lock the cat in the garage for the night?
