Can you help me identify this plant?

You've got two different plants there. The shorter ones on the left side of the picture, with the deeply cut leaves, look a lot like a hardy hibiscus. Wait a little longer, and those should reward you with really BIG white or pink flowers. The plants dominating the middle and right side of the picture ring a bell in my head, but I can't remember what they are. Hopefully, someone will fill in that bit.
