If we share so much in common with chimpanzees because we have a common creator...?

...and not a common ancestor, then shouldn't all animals have so much in common? a squid, and its anatomy, is very alien from our own. bacteria, fungus and even viruses can be considered life forms, plants are a lifeforms who's cells are relatively similar to our own. -yet, there is a bigger difference between a plant/bacterium and a human, than there is a chimpanzee and a human, although they all should equally have a common creator. how do creationists explain our extreme similarity and sharing of 98% of our DNA with chimpanzees, considering other creations can be so vastly different, if evolution isn't taken into account?
